Ishodad of Merv
Ishodad of Merv was a ninth-century bishop and biblical commentator in the Church of the East. He lived under the Abbasid caliphate, where Syriac Christians preserved scholarship in an Arabic-speaking imperial world. His commentaries gather earlier Syriac exegesis, historical notes, and theological
