John of Karpathos
John of Karpathos was a Byzantine monastic writer, probably from the seventh century, whose works are preserved in ascetic collections such as the Philokalia. He wrote for monks facing discouragement, temptation, and the long labor of prayer. His world was shaped by eastern monastic discipline, theo
