Polycarp of Smyrna

Polycarp of Smyrna was a second-century bishop in Asia Minor, traditionally linked to the apostle John and martyred at an advanced age. He lived when churches were preserving apostolic teaching against false teachers and under Roman pressure. His letter to the Philippians stresses righteousness, per
