Severian of Gabala
Severian of Gabala was a late fourth- and early fifth-century Syrian bishop and preacher, sometimes rival of John Chrysostom at Constantinople. He lived in the Antiochene preaching tradition and in the competitive ecclesial politics of the imperial capital. His homilies interpret Scripture with rhet
